Yesterday I sewed the blocks to make a quilt for the UGRR. Good thing I took a digital picture before I sewed them together. Somehow in the row assembly, something was switched around and now there are too many dark blocks on the right side. I didn't notice until I went to take a picture this evening. So tomorrow I'll be doing a bit of frog stitching - rip it, rip it, rip it.
The kitty fabric was bought at JoAnn's several years ago, but I never knew how to use it. The other day I saw a charity quilt pictured on somebody's blog (can't remember where) and I thought the setting would work for my kitty fabric. I also found the sashing pieces in a pile of fabric that was waiting to be folded and put in its proper place so it just seemed like the right time to sew this quilt. I think the bottom two rows are in the correct position, but the other rows are a jumbled mess. Where's Mr. Seam Ripper?
I'm so glad you said what frog stitching was since I had no clue. It is a good term to use. Great quilt top. The sashing works well with it.

ReplyDeleteAaargh! Frog stitching is the bane of my existence! Sometimes I think I rip more than I sew-but that couldn't be possible, could it??

ReplyDeleteI always use my digital camera to help me decide the layout of quilts before the final sew together. A photo is worth a thousand rips! Believe me, I've worn out a few rippers in my time! I also use the camera to help me see if fabric choices for my blocks are going to look right...really pops out the light, medium and darks for me.
ReplyDeleteI think the quilt looks perfect the way you sewed it together, maybe it was meant to be that way. I would leave it along! It is perfection!
Or you could leave it alone...gesh I wish auto spell checker would read my mind in regard to word choice. I suppose that's what "preview" is for??? Gesh.

I was able to extract it and right it and it felt GOOD!! You'll regret it if you don't fix it. Your dedication to stash busting is INSPIRING! XXOO P

ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how just a couple of misplaced blocks can make sure a difference. It is good that you have a "before" picture because you can see exactly which blocks need to be switched. I guess we have all been there!! Good luck with it.
