Challenge blocks & Stash Report
Remember those challenge blocks I was appliquing here? I finally decided what sashing strips I was going to use between the blocks after driving my family and friends nuts with options. Yesterday I attached the borders, today I mitered the corners and tonight I just finished basting it. The border color doesn't show well in the picture. It isn't as dark as it looks. Here comes Annie to see what the board is all about. Now I have the rest of March to get it quilted and bound in time for The Habitat for Humanity Auction. Tomorrow I'll post pictures of the fabrics I had to use to make these blocks. (My camera battery is dead tonight.)
So for the stash report - no new fabric bought! The fabrics for the sashing, borders and backing were all from my stash. Not a big amount, but something.
I had planned to join the Quiltathon this week-end, but it didn't work out this time. Looks like people made good use of their time at the sewing machines and finished quite a few projects.

I like the sashing and borders. That's a wonderful little quilt!
Your quilt is beautiful, you do such lovely work. Someday I am going to try my hand at applique.
What a beautiful quilt!
You picked the sashing fabric perfectly. It takes time to come up with the right choice I think. This is beautiful.
Your quilt is beautiful--the blocks are set off well by the sashing--great job!
What a beautiful quilt! I need to go on a fabric diet! I was looking at my stash and either I get a bigger closet, which is pretty big as it is now, or I start using what's in there! hum.... either one seems hard! lol Thanks for sharing your beautiful quilt!
I love the sashing and border fabric. It really makes it pop. What a beautiful project. Pat yourself on the back.
Love how the sashing turned out, good choices.
Genie, this quilt is sooo amazing and beautiful. GREAT job, my friend ! It's so funny : not later than yestaerday, I thought about those "abandonned" blocks (shame on me!) and I was thinking about bringing them together in a wallhanging (I've got 11 of them, so just one more would do the trick :>)
THANKS for the inspiration, dear !
A big ((HUG)) & smiles to you...

Oh, Jeanne, It's stunning! You did a wonderful work on this applique quilt. I love those borders. *S*
I love the sashing you chose for the quilt. And the quilt itself is terrific. Looking at the pic on your blog, I thought the sashing was pieced, but when I opened the pic, I saw you used a print. Again, it is wonderful.
Beautiful quilt. Love the applique, and love the purple!
Nice to see Annie again. Oliver always has to check out my quilts and other projects! You did a great job with your challenge quilt.

The kitty peeking around the corner to check it out is too funny. Looks like home!

I thought the sashing was pieced but what a surprise to see fabric instead when I clicked on the photo. The top looks wonderful!
Your quilt is beautiful! I love the sashing you've used! A lot of work!
That sashing is absolutely the most stunning....... You really went to a lot of trouble fussy cutting that fabric. It really paid off.
