Garage Sale Buy, More Flowers & Another Giveaway

pile of fabric scraps from three grocery bags and Annie sleeping on one of the bags
Jim and I went to a few garage sales yesterday even though it was steamy out there. I found a book I had wanted to buy, and a couple of baby things for the layettes at church at the first houses. On the next stop, I purchased three grocery bags full of scraps for 25 cents each! I had such a fun time searching through them. After sorting the colors, I almost refilled one of the bags with red, white/tan & blue scraps for soldier blocks. This picture shows the contents of just one of the bags. Annie apparently doesn't want me to empty the one she is guarding. I love finding bargains!

Wednesday, Connie and I went on another Garden Walk nearby. It was 90 degrees outside with high humidity, so we made our stops, snapped a few pics and dashed back to the a/c in the car. One house had a gorgeous row of lavendar that gave the yard such a sweet fragrance. Another yard had such huge flowers. The women said the garden had been double dug. I had never heard of that. If I remember correctly, you dig down two feet and put the topsoil at the bottom. At the last stop, we were treated to fancy cupcakes, brownies and fruit bars.

Jeanne, 3 bags full of scraps for 25 cents each? What a find!
Annie looks very, very comfortable there.
It's unbelievably hot and humid here too, definitely getting uncomfortable to be out for too long. But I'll take this over winter any day!

What a great find of 3 bags of scraps Jeanne! Thank you for sharing the pictures of your garden walk, very inspirational for my own garden, if I could only get cracking on it :-D Too many weeds I need to remove. The flowers are pretty though and blooming through the weeds all the same >G< Hugs Elly

I love the garden walks . . . I am often mystified by what will grow well for me. Those walks would be a great way to learn tips and tricks for your own yard *s*

What a find on the scraps. Years ago that would have been a common find at thrift stores, etc. but not any more. Lucky you!

Oh, I love a bargain just like you do, especially when it's fabric. My husband shakes his head as he watches me examine every odd piece of fabric. I can't help it as I'm crazy about fabric.
Your garden is absolutely lovely. Everything looks so healthy and green and flowery. Love it.
Take care.
Aloha!

Hi Jeanne, You got a great bargain on your find of fabrics. The girls at the shop would laugh because when I make a project or teach one they would just toss all of the scraps. You can make so much with just a little piece. The flowers are gorgeous.
