Pink Strings Top

Pink String Quilt top

I corresponded with the Secret Santa Christmas Swap Elf, Donna, today about my likes and dislikes for the benefit of the person who has my name. Mentioned that I don't really like pinks unless they are paired with browns or are double pinks. So it's rather ironic that I sewed today in my bright pink t-shirt making pink Heartstrings blocks. Hmmmm. Originally, I had planned on using a cute pink print with tennis shoes for the border, but it just didn't look the way I had imagined it. Luckily, I found this print in my stash and it seemed just right. I may applique a few random hearts here and there. After quilting, this quilt will go to the local Habitat for Humanity's auction next spring.

Checking my email, I found that Alice from Quilted Giraffe announced that I had guessed the closet to how many buttons were in her tin and I won the pail of batik fat quarters!!! What a lucky gal I am today! I love getting fun mail so I'll be on the look out for this one.

Tomorrow I'm heading to the Kalamazoo Log Cabin Quilter's Show held in Portage, MI. I hope to keep my fabric buying under control despite the thirty three vendors. Oh, my!

Congrats on the win!
I am not a fan of pink either but then I think about it and I too wore a pink blouse today and plan to do my bedroom in pink and brown, queen size quilt already in the hoop! I guess I do like pink.

Lucky indeed! Congratulations! That is a nice win. I love the look of your pink strings. Very eye-catching and I can't wait to see how appliqued hearts look on it.

WOW!! A pail full of batiks and a quilt show ! I'm so jealous!!! I love the top- though I confess not a lover of pink.Must be all the years working in the toy store and all those damn Barbie boxes-lol. But it seems most of the doll quilts we're making are pinks and whites. And the last mystery I did was pink and white....

I really like your pink string blocks. They do look yummy. I'm not a pink fan but I do like the browns and pink color combo. And I also have to congratulate you on your DJ finish it's a beautiful quilt. I've only just started mine.

I love pink so I definitely loved your quilt. I do find some things in pink that just don't do it for me, but most pinks yell and scream happy things to me. Congratulations on your win of the batik fat quarters. I'm in total envy!

I agree with you about pinks, but I think your quilt is very pretty. The string blocks and setting certainly suit the colour.
