Busy Again

Spring is a busy time of year around here. Our local quilt show was held this past week-end. It was wonderful. Our co-chairs Clara and Ardie did a fantastic job. There seemed to be a steady flow of visitors and I was able to see several friends whom I hadn't seen in quite some time.

fabrics for ugly quilt challenge

Today I finished the UFC (Ugly Fabric Challenge) for 2009. As usual, I waited until the deadline was almost here before I got "busy" with my project. This will be donated to the Habitat for Humanity Auction held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in April. Here are the fabrics we needed to use.

Tomorrow is quilting at the LQS for Underground RailRoad.

Carolina Crossroads

Jasper hunkered down on my quilt in my chair

With a week to spare before our quilt show, my Carolina Crossroads quilt is ready to hang. I'm used to working on little quilts so this one seemed huge! Jasper had to test it as soon as I set it down on my chair. He slept there all night so I guess he approves. If you want more information about our quilt show next week, click on the link for Piecemakers Quilt Guild on my sidebar.

Bee Day

Monday it was my turn to host our Bee. I always feel energized after Connie, Jane, Mary and I have spent time together. We're all zeroing in on the deadline for our ugly fabric challenge. Mary showed what she had started and it looked terrific. Here are a few of our Bee essentials: Zippered Bee Bag, Cutter Bee Scissors, Bee Name Tag, Avon Lotion with a Bee logo and a Chocolate Bee that's a couple of years old but too cute to eat. We call ourselves Plan Bee because Plan A never works out.

Finished a Flimsy

Quilt top for shop made with squares and rectangles

This quilt top was made from a pattern by Nancy Mahoney called Papillon Jardin. It uses the Hoffman "Papillon" Collection of fabrics. My LQS asked if I would be interested in making some samples for the shop. This is my first attempt. I chose this one because it was so different from what I usually buy or sew. And I only have to make the top! Now that has my name all over it. The top measures about 61" x 77". This pattern was fun to make, sort of like putting a puzzle together.
