A Little Stitching

love to sew stitchery in blue thread
Alie and her cake
decorated table at Alie's shower
There isn't much sewing going on lately in my house, but I did finish this cute stitchery that I received from May Britt in her polka dot exchange package. The fabric had the design printed on it so it was ready to go. I'm not sure if I will frame it or use it in a bag, but I sure enjoyed doing the stitching while watching the Tiger ballgames.

Last Saturday, Connie, Lori, Judy and I (the Aunts) gave a bridal shower for our niece, Alie. She and Andy will be married in August. Alie's colors are hot pink and orange which was fun to use in our decorating. We had gerbera daisies in the chosen colors for the tables and they became the prizes.

Now for the drawing... I wrote the names on slips of those who had sent photo captions and put them into a bowl. I wanted the kitties to 'draw' the winner, but neither would come when I called. Jim suggested baiting the dish with a few kitty treats. Well, Annie immediately waddled in to check out the noise and then surrendered her chance to select the wining slip to Jasper. Jasper chose Beth and then ate the treats. Congratulations, Beth. I have your address from the PIF we did and will get your package in the mail this week. I really enjoyed reading the captions sent in by everyone. Thanks for playing.

Mother's Day, Stash Report & Contest

dish full of asparagus thingies
flowers from Wisconsin

I hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day. Simone and Mike came for lunch (Simone to cook, Mike to eat). Simone makes the most wonderful crepes filled with ham and cooked asparagus and topped with hollandaise sauce. Two of these will fill you for hours. They also gave me a gift certificate to my LQS, The Quilted Cottage. JJ and the kitties, Jasper and Annie also gave me certificates to The Quilted Cottage. (I wonder where they got that idea?) From Wisconsin, Craig, Kari, Abby and Ian sent me a beautiful bouquet of pink flowers in a pink, plaid vase. They're so pretty. I also received phone calls from Kalamazoo and Wisconsin.

Mike and I beat Jim and Simone - best two out of three in Euchre, the four of us walked to my folks and visited with my mom and dad, and my Tigers won again, sweeping Cleveland. I had a great day!

"Caption the Cats" Photo Contest
Now to distract you from my failing stash report, I'm going to have a contest. It will be called "Caption the Cats" Photo Contest. I just know Jasper and Annie were having a heavy conversation while they watched the bird feeder the other day from the kitchen window. I'd like to hear what you think they were saying. To enter, make sure I can contact you with an email address. You may enter multiple captions, but post them individually, please. The winner will receive fabric, yet to be chosen. The contest will end Saturday, May 16th at midnight. Get those thinking caps on and send me your thoughts. Here is the photo.

I've been sewing all week on a round robin addition and should finish it today. Unfortunately, I can't show it until fall when they are given back to their original owners.

In my yard, you can see tulips, daffodils, grape hyacinths, violets, lots of weeds and a cat or two. Jasper loves to hide in the tiger lilies. The window picture looks like they are studying the guests at the bird feeder.

Have a wonderful week-end!
