Last Sunday we were fortunate to be in Wisconsin to watch our grandson, Ian graduate from high school. He was also one of his class speakers and did an awesome job. He will leave at the end of the month for basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. The years went by so quickly and we are so proud of him.
On our ride home, we managed to hook up with a storm heading east, also. It got so bad at one point that we took the next exit to wait it out. We couldn't see anything, but the semi trucks seemed to have no problem as they continued to whiz by. It was so good to get home.
When we reached home, there were new blooms greeting us in the yard.
Annie immediately climbed on top of Jim's suitcase as if to say, this isn't leaving home again without me.
On Wednesday and Thursday, I was sewing at the June Sleep At Home Retreat. This month several of us made cases to hold a pincushion and bobbin donuts. This pic shows my sister, Connie's on the left and mine is on the right.
I also finished the June challenge for the small quilt group led by Kathleen Tracy. Mine is a bit smaller than the one shown in the book as I used the leftover triangle units from the patriotic quilt I just finished. My blocks finish up at four inches. It was fun and quick to make.
Random four patch blocks sewn from scrap strips cut 1 1/2" wide and below
are my first four blocks for the Summer Sampler quilt that is on the Temecula Quilts blog.
So you can see, it's been a busy week with more of the same coming up!
