Slow Stitching

I'm doing some big stitch quilting on my "Hen Pecked" little quilt for the Kim Diehl Whatnots Club. It's a good project to pick up while watching a little television.

Patriotic Stars

Although I'm caught up with the Time Warp Stars, I have been sewing together patriotic stars. Most of these blocks were sewn at The Jane Stickle Retreat in Shipshewana last month. Now I need to find a border and get this one quilted and bound. The blocks measure 8 inches finished and were made from fabrics in my stash.

The addition of these two fabrics has me smiling from ear to ear. So many possibilities.

Twenty Stars

I'm caught up with my Time Warp Stars! I didn't have an overdyed green solid that fit the bill, so found a print that I thought was close. The second one is my star using an excentric print. Now I have an even twenty!

The next picture is the mystery quilt from last month's Quilted Cottage University. The fabrics were definitely out of my comfort zone, but it was fun to follow the instructions each month. We had no idea where this mystery was going until the very end.

All But One

Happy Memorial Day!

Almost caught up with the Time Warp Stars from Barbara Brackman. I just need the overdyed green solid to be up to date.

Annie kept trying to get in the photo. When I placed the first star on the carpet, there she was snuggling right up next to it. I had to relocate her several times before I got them all laid out.

Holiday Week-end

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Memorial Day week-end. We are staying home with no particular schedule to follow. There is a plan for bar-b-qued ribs one day.

When Barbara Brackman started posting her Time Warp Stars, I was on board and made the first one using Turkey Red fabric. Then somehow the needed fabrics for the stars were recorded on paper and not stitched. The other day I saw Kyle's progress with her stars and it motivated me to get back to them. Thank you! My sister, Connie and I are both catching up now.

I have cut out the backgrounds for the nineteen stars and am sewing as I find the right fabrics needed for each week. So far, I have turkey red, purple, double pink, Prussian blue, green calico, cheddar and conversation prints. If I find a better choice later, I can always sew a second star as they are quick and easy.

Sunday

Spent a little time outside today in my flowers (weeds), but it became hot very quickly.  So it was kind of a lazy Sunday most of the day. The lilacs are in full bloom and I love their fragrance.

Tonight I worked on a little mug rug to take to the guild meeting for our tea party. Finished it just as the Tigers were losing the game to St. Louis.

Last week

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day last Sunday. It was a bit rainy here, but I enjoyed a nice visit from my two sons and daughter-in-law. Flowers arrived from Wisconsin from daughter and family and also came with my guests. Then there was this raspberry cream puff pie to consume!

Last week at the Sleep At Home Retreat, we had a class to make this little duffle. The pattern actually includes instructions for four sizes which can all be made from a half yard of fabric.

And finally, I was able to finish the little quilt for our next Whatsnot Club. This mini measures 10 1/2" x 11 1/2". The HSTs finish at one inch.

Slow Stitching Sunday

The sun is shining and warm breezes are drifting through the open windows.  It's a beautiful day! I am enjoying the Tigers' ballgame as I work on some hand stitching from The Red Button Company called Little Red Nine.

And the Tigers win!

P.S. I finished binding this Whatnots quilt in April so that lets me link up with Julie here.
